Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

If you do not have health insurance or do not plan to use insurance for care, federal law generally gives you the right to receive a written estimate of expected charges before scheduled services.

You may request an estimate before scheduling. When care is scheduled at least three business days in advance, the estimate is generally provided within the time required by the No Surprises Act. The final amount depends on the services and course of care agreed upon.

Keep a copy of the estimate. A federal patient-provider dispute process may be available when a bill is at least $400 more than the estimate.
